Commissary

We toured the Commissary, where the food is prepared for all of the animals in the zoo. The staff chops fruits and vegetables, cooks grains and porridge, and thaws frozen meat and fish. Each animal has a stainless steel feeding pan and a set diet plan.

You can see the boxes of fruits and vegetables on the trolley waiting to be prepared for the animals.

These are packages of meat for the carnivores.

The fruits and vegetables are for the herbivores and frugivores.

Fish is the sea lions delight! These are thawing for them.

We explored the walk-in fridge and freezer.

Diane is holding one food tray ready to go out to the wallabys- it has chow, fruit and vegetables.

Another tray ready for one of our primates!

The children wonder why animals like to eat porridge!
