STEP 1: Locating your
primate’s habitat/location
1.
Take out the
Primate Habitats/Locations sheet included in your
primate basket folder.
2.
Look at the areas that are shown on the map and see if
you can locate these on a globe or in an atlas.
3.
Cut out your primate’s habitat/location picture and
glue it on the top of your shoebox.
STEP 2: Finish your primate
model
1.
Take a look through your primate observation sketches
in your Zoo School book. What do you notice about the
pictures you had made? Are there any special features you
see?
2. Click on the primate picture that you need to take you to
the Zoo School Website. Take a look through some of the
photos and pay special attention to the colors and features of
your primate.

3. Use felt-pens to add in the detail and color to your
primate model.
STEP 3: Create your habitat
1.
Now you are ready to create your habitat! You first
need to decide if you are going to create a realistic habitat
or a zoo habitat. If you are creating a zoo habitat you will
have to think about adding features to your habitat that will
provide enrichment for exercise and to avoid boredom.
2.
Think about your design and then collect materials you
need. Paint a background color if you haven’t already, or and
in colored paper or pictures. Glue in the items that aren’t
too heavy and get some adult help to hot-glue anything that
needs stronger glue.
